Casey Jarvis demonstrated outstanding play in the third round of the Alfred Dunhill tournament, strengthening his position in the race for victory at Scotland's oldest course.
Jarvis admitted to having 'goosebumps' after advancing to the final round at St Andrews with a two-shot advantage. He aims to conclude a brilliant week in Scotland with another victory on the DP World Tour.
On Saturday, Casey Jarvis came close to winning the Alfred Dunhill Links championship, securing a two-shot lead heading into the final day of competition. His round at Old Course in St Andrews showed seven under par, confirming his excellent form in this tournament.
The competition is held across three courses—Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, and St Andrews, with the latter hosting the final round on Sunday. Jarvis, who had a one-shot lead the previous day, started his day with a magnificent approach shot from 103 yards, then added three birdies before the break, despite windy conditions.
An additional two birdies on the ninth, twelfth, and fourteenth holes allowed him to shoot a 65, bringing his total score to 18 under par. He leads Englishman Matthew Jordan and Pole Adrian Meronek, who both posted the best round of the day at Kingsbarns with a 9 under par (63).
Jarvis noted: 'I just felt like I was controlling my game today.' He is targeting his third DP World Tour victory of the season. He added: 'Every golfer dreams of taking the lead playing at Old Course on Sunday. I have goosebumps right now. I just can't wait for tomorrow. Even if I don't win, just having the lead, I will enjoy it as much as possible.'
Jordan, aiming for his first DP World Tour win in his 183rd tournament, shot a bogey-free 66 in the third round at Kingsbarns. Belgian Thomas Detry is at 15 under par after a 65 round with seven under par at St Andrews, while Dane Jakob Skov Olesen, who shot a 9 under par (63) at Kingsbarns, trails the leader by four strokes.
