The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Uzbekistan have reached an agreement on a draft agreement concerning the exchange of data on goods and international transport vehicles crossing the customs borders of both parties.
The first stage of negotiations to prepare this document concluded in Moscow on September 30. Following this meeting, the parties also agreed to begin internal procedures for approving the draft agreement.
Sergey Shklyayev, Minister of Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, emphasized that Uzbekistan is one of the key trading partners of the EAEU. According to him, priority areas remain strengthening trust between the countries and their customs services, as well as developing cooperation in the customs sphere.
Shklyayev noted that the adoption and subsequent implementation of this agreement should facilitate the simplification of customs procedures and accelerate the movement of goods across borders while ensuring effective customs control.
The draft document was agreed upon during the first round thanks to preliminary preparatory work and a number of consultations with relevant authorized bodies of the member states of the EAEU and Uzbekistan.
The decision to start negotiations with Uzbekistan was made by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in December 2025. The EAEU delegation participating in the negotiations included representatives of the customs and other relevant authorized bodies of the Union's member states, as well as employees of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
