After starting work, napping became a luxury: A girl shared changes in her life

The girl shared a video in which she talked about the changes in her daily life after starting a full-time job. Her story received many responses on social networks because many viewers found it very close to their own experience.

On the Instagram platform, Kulzhot Kur published a video detailing the transformation of her daily routine after getting a permanent job. She noted that things that used to be commonplace have now become a luxury for her.

She began her story with daytime sleep. Kulzhot explained that previously she couldn't even imagine that sleeping during the day could feel like such a big luxury; now she simply doesn't have time for it.

She also touched upon social life. Before starting work, she could meet friends even on weekdays, but now even weekends are difficult for meeting friends.

Giving shopping as an example, she said that she used to be able to go shopping calmly on weekdays, but now the fatigue from work is so strong that she doesn't even want to get out of bed on weekends. Thus, in addition to increased working hours, she felt a lack of free time.

Kulzhot shared difficulties related to the evening time. She recalls that before five in the evening she had her own personal life, but after starting work, she gets so tired in the evening that she has no strength left for other things or activities. This situation resonated with social media users, as time after the end of the office day is often spent resting, eating, and preparing for the next day.

Furthermore, watching movies started taking up much more time. Previously, she could watch an entire movie in one sitting, but now it feels like a web series for her—a little today, the rest tomorrow, because she has to go to work the next day. It has become difficult for her to set aside continuous hours for watching films.

Even time for hobbies has become scarce. Before work, she didn't need to specifically allocate time for hobbies because there was enough time. Now, finding time for a favorite activity has become difficult. In the caption to her video, she wrote: 'Let's talk about the golden era.'

Many users reacted to Kulzhot's video in the comments, calling it very relatable to their own lives. One user noted that daytime sleep has indeed turned into a luxury. The main focus of the video is on those small things for which it has become difficult to find time after starting a full-time job, which made her video a topic of discussion among people who have experienced similar changes in their daily routines.

How Generation Z is changing corporate culture: from dress code to interview approach

The question of how Generation Z is transforming workplace culture has become a subject of widespread discussion, starting from a rather simple moment—the consumption of iced coffee during an interview.

Imagine this scenario: a candidate arrives for an interview at a favorite coffee shop, orders a large iced latte, and enters the meeting room, continuing to drink coffee during the conversation. For some representatives of older generations, such as Millennials or Generation X, this may cause confusion and lead to questions about the appropriateness of such behavior in an interview.

This incident added a new element to the list of cultural clashes between generations. Millennials are traditionally associated with the concept of 'hustle' and a constant drive for progress, whereas Gen Z members value inner peace more.

The topic gained wide attention after Caitlin Viennenen, president of a recruitment agency from Florida, published a video on TikTok. In it, she discussed instances where Gen Z candidates arrived at interviews with iced coffee in hand. According to Viennenen, although it might seem trivial, such behavior can create an impression of excessive informality. It can also signal that for the candidate, the interview is just another task in the day, not an important opportunity.

The video quickly went viral, as the discussion around it escalated into a generational debate. Some insisted on the necessity of maintaining a certain level of formality during an interview, while others questioned why having a drink in hand should matter so much.

However, the article's author emphasizes that the changes being discussed go far beyond a single cup of coffee. He focuses on the various ways Gen Z can unintentionally surprise employers.

Generation Z brings a number of practices into the work environment that can elicit reactions ranging from approval to bewilderment from previous generations. It is important to understand that this is not about Gen Z making mistakes, but rather that they often do not adhere to the rules that were part of the working experience of past generations.

One example is sending a message like, 'Can we reschedule or reconsider the interview?' just five minutes before the scheduled time. A 36-year-old HR specialist working for an airline told India Today that initially, such messages seemed too blunt. However, over time, he realized that openly expressing expectations in the workplace is becoming the norm.

He also noted that young candidates have become more open in discussing their limitations and circumstances. They prefer to state the issues that hinder their work rather than trying to fit into a process that does not suit them.

Suvarna Mishra, HR Director at Plaxy India, shared a similar experience. She observed that candidates often send messages with a brief explanation for rescheduling or canceling an interview without going into detail. Although it seemed informal to her at first, she later understood that it reflects a healthier approach to setting personal boundaries, which was absent in previous generations.

The traditional image of a suit and tie is fading away. Today, interviews feature sneakers, oversized t-shirts, brightly colored hair and piercings, and, of course, iced coffee.

Vineet Chaturvedi, CEO of International Shared Support Center Private Limited, noted that a tie is not a measure of an employee's qualification. Nevertheless, he stressed that a neat appearance and appropriate attire still demonstrate effort. At the same time, he distinguished between concepts: abandoning old dress codes and perceiving an interview as a completely informal conversation are two different things.

After quitting corporate job due to social media, author warns viewers in video message

Social media encourages people not only to positive but also to negative actions. Currently, there is a growing trend among people to leave office jobs and move into content creation or start their own businesses. Viewers like stories about people giving up stable jobs for a cause that brings them passion. However, the question arises: what will happen if this new path turns out to be unsuccessful?

Mansi faced something similar. After this, she began sharing her experience through social media, advising other people.

Mansi Khandelwal stated that she made a big mistake and urged others not to repeat her steps. Khandelwal, who left her corporate position, recently published a video on Instagram. In it, she explained why one should not make the decision to quit based solely on others' social media posts. She emphasized that social media often shows the fact of leaving a job, but no one shows the associated difficulties. Financial pressure increases after quitting.

Khandelwal said that she regularly receives messages from people who say that after watching her posts about leaving corporate work, they also wanted to quit. Her answer to such people is always the same: do not quit.

Furthermore, she specified that her decision to leave was not sudden or made to demonstrate her bravery. Before leaving her job, she carefully analyzed her financial situation. She tried to understand whether she could maintain her usual lifestyle if her income suddenly stopped.

What if she couldn't find a job for two years? Mansi asked herself this question repeatedly. She imagined a scenario where she would fail to find a job or client within one or two years, and wondered what she would do in such a situation. In that case, she would have to significantly change her lifestyle. In the video, she showed that she asked herself a series of questions, and the answers were missing. For example, did she need to change apartments? The answer was still not found. Would she have to cut back on travel expenses? There was no answer to this question either.

Thus, her daily life could continue the same way even if there was no income for one or two years. This certainty became her main support in making the decision to quit. She knew that she had a sufficient financial cushion to support her life after the regular salary ended.

Khandelwal continued in the video, talking about what is rarely seen on social media. People only see that she left her corporate job, but behind this decision was years of financial preparation. She reported that before leaving her job, she had saved about six and a half years' worth of savings. According to her, when she says on social media that she left her corporate job, she often omits the fact that she was preparing for this decision by saving for six and a half years. What looks like an act of great courage on social media has a completely different story for those going through something similar.

In her video message, Mansi appealed to the audience not to quit just to look brave. Nevertheless, the purpose of publishing her video was only to show that she herself had prepared thoroughly before leaving her job, and not everything shown on social media is true. Khandelwal also emphasized this point in the description of her Instagram video. She wrote: 'Don't give up just because you think you are brave. I gave up because I did the calculations, and I hope this helps you too.'
