The polyclinic in Nova Friburgo has been reopened following reconstruction and expansion work. The initial work began in 2022, with an original completion deadline set for November of the same year.
During the construction period, residents received temporary services at the SAF building, located on Conselheiro Paulino Square. However, in 2025, the Municipality announced that unforeseen structural issues led to a suspension of construction for further investigation and adjustments.
According to municipal data, the facility's area has doubled after the renovation. The resumption of patient appointments is scheduled for Monday (the 5th).
After changes were made to the project, the contract was supplemented, extending the completion deadline by another 120 days. Work resumed on May 19, 2025, with the expected end date being September 24 of the same year.
The Municipality also specified that the intervention effectively restored the polyclinic, including updating plumbing and electrical systems, flooring, and the roof, as well as making modifications to comply with operational standards.
The building layout was reorganized, and the rooms were improved. The space was also equipped with new furniture and equipment to ensure greater safety and comfort for both patients and medical staff.
The Municipal Health Department informed that information regarding the polyclinic's capacity, as well as available services and specializations after the reopening, will be published later.
