Uzbekistan and Germany Discuss Training of Personnel for the Needs of the German Labor Market

Another meeting took place in Tashkent between representatives of Uzbekistan and Germany, aimed at discussing the training of specialists in Uzbekistan in line with the requirements of the German labor market.

Discussion on Specialist Training

The meeting included the Director of the Migration Service, Mukhsinkhodjo Abdurakhmonov, Director of GP Günter Papenburg AG Angela Papenburg, Eva Schneider, a representative of the German Embassy in Tashkent, GIZ Uzbekistan team leader Matthias Klingenberg, as well as representatives of German employers and organizations involved in vocational training.

One of the key issues was the structure of specialist training, which should be oriented not towards filling specific vacancies, but towards obtaining concrete professions and qualifications that meet the demands of potential employers.

Participants discussed the possibilities of adapting educational programs in Uzbekistan to the needs of the German labor market, paying special attention to employer requirements for specialist qualifications. Furthermore, the parties talked about preparing citizens for travel to Germany and their subsequent integration upon arrival.

This meeting marked another stage in the dialogue between Uzbekistan and Germany regarding vocational training and employment opportunities for specialists in the German labor market.

Uzbekistan and EU Discuss Global Gateway Investment Initiative Projects

The first meeting of the Working Group of Uzbekistan and the European Union on investment, financial, and technical cooperation within the framework of the Global Gateway initiative took place in Tashkent on September 29. The discussion covered the practical implementation of the EU's investment package of 12 billion euros for Central Asia.

Discussion of Global Gateway Projects

The Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan reported that the parties focused on implementing the Global Gateway investment package, which was announced by the European Union at the Samarkand Summit in April 2025. The meeting reviewed progress in joint projects covering energy, water resource management, transport, and digital communication.

Furthermore, the agenda included issues of cooperation in climate and critical raw materials. Special attention was paid to attracting private capital, as well as European financial and development institutions for joint investment projects.

Participants also discussed opportunities to expand grant support and technical assistance from the EU, including financing programs for the period 2028–2034. At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to transform the Working Group into a permanent platform for coordinating investment initiatives, forming a common project portfolio, and promoting specific initiatives.
