Professor Eldrid Jordan, a South African technologist, entrepreneur, and founder of GovChat, has joined the Advisory Board of the University of Warwick's Startup Programme. In this role, he will act as a mentor for entrepreneurs and support the development of new technology ventures.
Jordan is the founder of GovChat, a civic technology platform that connects millions of citizens with government services. Additionally, he has been involved in creating and consulting on technological projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and corporate technologies.
Over the next twelve months, Jordan will mentor entrepreneurs within the program. The main focus will be on assisting with business model development, commercializing ideas, and preparing ventures for scaling.
Jordan will oversee three startups
As part of his appointment, he is tasked with overseeing three projects participating in the program: Aspire, CellSense Africa, and LightYield. Aspire develops a technological platform to help organizations manage programs for entry-level specialists, including internships, graduate programs, and apprenticeships.
CellSense Africa is a B2B software that uses battery aging analytics and predictive state data to support electric vehicle fleets in Kenya and other African markets. The third project, LightYield, focuses on agriculture; its technology applies tools for soil probing and optimizing crop lighting, helping greenhouse farmers manage light levels while reducing energy costs.
Jordan expressed his honor at joining the program and contributing to the development of a new generation of entrepreneurs. He noted that his career has developed at the intersection of technology, entrepreneurship, academia, and social impact. He looks forward to sharing his experience with founders, especially regarding commercialization, scaling technology businesses, strategic partnerships, and understanding entrepreneurial realities, while also learning from the new wave of innovators.
