Uzbekistan U-23 National Team Lost to China in Bronze Medal Match of Asian Games 2026

The Uzbekistan U-23 national team failed to win the bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games, which are being held in Nagoya, Aichi. In the third-place match, the team lost to China in a penalty shootout.

China opened the scoring in the 15th minute thanks to a goal by Hu Hetu. Just before halftime, Bahromov managed to equalize in the 43rd minute.

In the second half, China regained the lead. Wang Wuwei scored the second goal for his team in the 53rd minute.

Uzbekistan managed to equalize closer to the end of the game. In the 89th minute, Shodiyor Shodiboyev scored a goal for China, and at the end of regular time, the score was 2:2.

According to tournament rules, the winner was determined in a penalty shootout. Uzbekistan lost this shootout with a score of 3:4, as a result of which the U-23 national team concluded its participation in the Asian Games without receiving any medal.

Turkey scored first in the fortieth minute of the match. The Turkish side increased its advantage by scoring the second goal in the fifty-first minute, and the 0:2 score remained unchanged until the final whistle.

The starting lineup for Uzbekistan included Abdulbori Zoidjonov, Mirjamol Anvarov, Mashkurbek Abdisoliev, Jakhongirmirzo Uktambev, Abubakir Rakhimov, Islam Ravshanov, Muhammad Mamatbekov, Mirkamil Murodov, Sukhrob Sadirjonov, Asilbek Aliyev, and Mukhammadodilkhan Orifkhonov. Mirjamol Anvarov played as the team captain.

During the game, Mehroy Siriddinov, Elsevar Olimov, Nurmuhammad Uktamov, Adiz Abdunabiev, Damir Mirzabekov, Bilal Aliyev, Akhror Ravshanbekov, Khabibulloh Tokhirov, and Laziz Abduraimov took the field.

This match was part of the training camp of the Uzbekistan U-17 national youth team, which was taking place in Portugal.
