Uzbekistan and Italy plan to expand cooperation in labor migration

Uzbekistan and Italy intend to deepen cooperation in the field of labor migration, with a particular focus on training and employment of qualified specialists. These plans were discussed at a meeting between the Director of the Migration Service, Muksinjodjoy Abdurakhmonov, and the Italian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Guido De Santis.

The parties discussed the further development of the partnership, including the medical sector. By the end of the current year, about 20 qualified nurses are expected to be trained for subsequent employment in Milan.

Currently, about 30 doctors from Uzbekistan are studying the Italian language as part of preparation for potential work in Italy. According to the Migration Service, the regions of Lombardy, Piedmont, and Sardinia have expressed interest in attracting medical workers from Uzbekistan.

Cooperation between the two states already includes training Uzbek specialists and organized employment of citizens. Last year, 10 medical workers from Uzbekistan underwent professional training in Italy before returning home.

Seasonal employment also remains an area of interaction. Recently, 38 citizens from the Namangan region of Uzbekistan arrived in the province of Ferrara to work in agriculture.

Thus, cooperation with Italy is gradually covering both seasonal employment and the migration of skilled labor, especially in the medical sector. The Migration Service has already opened registration for individuals wishing to participate in the training program for qualified nurses preparing to work in Italy.
