MTN8 Final Between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns Held to Full Capacity Despite Digital Ticketing System Glitches

The MTN8 tournament final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns took place with a full house at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on October 10th. By late Friday evening, it was known that the match was sold out, ensuring the stands were full.

This match will be the first home final of the season and marks another chapter in the growing rivalry between the clubs, as they will meet in the competition for the fourth time in five seasons.

Ticketing Issues

However, the rapid sell-out was accompanied by technical chaos. The influx of people wanting to buy tickets triggered mass failures in the digital sales system on Friday. This resulted in many disappointed fans being blocked in the purchasing system because demand exceeded the platform's capacity.

League representatives and event organizers announced on Friday that physical tickets would not be sold either at the venue or through retail points. Access is strictly digital, and gates will open at 14:00 to allow time for security checks and pre-match entertainment.

Spectator Requirements and Broadcast

Spectators, including children, must present pre-loaded mobile tickets. Organizers warned that screenshots and printed tickets would be rejected at the turnstiles. For fans who did not secure tickets after the digital turmoil on Friday, the match will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL (Channel 202) and SABC 1.
