Although September is traditionally reserved for the presentation of flagship iPhone models from Apple, the tech giant plans to present another wave of major announcements at the end of this month, showcasing the best of their other devices.
The company's first foldable product, the iPhone Duo, which was confirmed last month, will officially go on sale on October 23rd. It is currently unknown how well the device will sell, especially considering its high price, which is expected to be around R50,000. The iPhone Duo represents a significant experiment for Apple, and its commercial success could result in either a positive or negative outcome.
Due to this uncertainty, the company is paying close attention to ensuring that existing Apple product lines continue to perform well. Here is what can be expected from Apple starting October 13th.
New Smart Home Hub
Despite being an entirely new development, the dedicated Smart Home Hub is designed for seamless integration of already connected equipment in millions of living rooms. Thanks to the ecosystem that ensures flawless continuity between devices, the new Apple hub could become the ideal central element connecting all hardware components even better.
HomePod mini 2
The updated lineup will include the HomePod mini 2. This compact smart speaker will receive an internal upgrade with deeper integration of the Siri artificial intelligence.
Apple TV 4K
Four years have passed since Apple last presented a redesigned Apple TV, making the upcoming release one of the main topics among the tech giant's latest offerings. The current Apple TV model runs on the A15 Bionic chip, which is used in the iPhone 13 series. When the Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) was first released in November 2022, the A15 chip was already over a year old.
Reports indicate that the updated streaming box will be equipped with an A19 or A19 Pro chip, similar to the silicon introduced in last year's iPhone 17 family. Industry reports also point to a high probability of increased base storage capacity.
iPad mini 8 and iPad 12
The mid-range iPad mini 8 and entry-level iPad 12 models are also scheduled for updates in October. The new mini model is expected to feature a vibrant OLED display along with the A20 Pro chip, turning the compact device into a true portable powerhouse. Meanwhile, the iPad 12 is expected to receive an A19 chip and expanded unified memory. This hardware upgrade will finally enable full Siri AI integration on Apple's most affordable tablet—a key feature notably absent in the previous generation.
MacBook Pro M6
An update to the base model of the 14-inch MacBook Pro is also anticipated. Although the external casing will not be redesigned, users can expect a significant boost in internal performance thanks to the next-generation M6 processor.
