Uttar Pradesh government will provide over 148 crore rupees to 4.60 lakh students

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, will disburse an amount exceeding 148 crore rupees into the bank accounts of over 4.60 lakh students on Saturday. These funds are designated for scholarships and reimbursement of tuition fees. The ceremony is scheduled for 10 AM at Lok Bhavan.

The government asserts that transparency in scholarship distribution has been achieved through the integration of the entire system into an automated process, ensuring timely disbursement of funds. The scholarship serves as support for students so that educational and study expenses do not become an unbearable burden for their families. Tuition fee reimbursement means that the government subsequently returns the amount paid by the student for education, which is transferred directly to their bank account.

During the upcoming event, assistance will be provided to students from various categories. Students from lower castes (Pichhra Varg) will receive 60.01 crore rupees for 2,23,615 students. Students from African castes (Scheduled Castes) will be allocated 64.54 crore rupees for 1,59,959 students. Students from the general category (Samanya Varg) are entitled to 11.43 crore rupees for 38,084 students, while students from minorities (Allapsink) will receive 12.06 crore rupees for 38,901 students. The total sum of these funds exceeds 148 crore rupees, and the number of recipients surpasses 4.60 lakh.

For the financial year 2025-26, currently, over 65.95 lakh students are receiving scholarships and tuition fee reimbursements totaling more than 4,793 crore rupees. This figure demonstrates the significant scale of the program and the large number of enrolled students.

The government states that the entire scholarship distribution system operates through automation. Automation implies that most of the work is performed independently by a computer system, minimizing the probability of errors or delays. This is why the government claims increased transparency in distribution. Furthermore, the system for ensuring timely issuance of scholarships to students has been strengthened. The government insists that the funds reach the students without hindrance and in their pure form.

Delhi University eases transition rules for students by providing credit requirement relaxations

Delhi University has provided relief to students admitted to the undergraduate (UG) program in the 2025-26 academic year by amending course progression rules. Students who failed to accumulate 28 out of 44 credits in their first year will no longer be barred from advancing to the next course solely based on this criterion. DU has decided on a one-time waiver of the 28-credit requirement for this group of students.

Under the UGCF-2022 credit system, which operates within the NEP framework, students are required to earn a total of 44 credits per academic year. Previously, to advance to the next year, students needed to accumulate at least 28 credits. However, if a student had fewer than 28 credits, they could face difficulties in being promoted to the following year.

Nevertheless, students should understand that DU has not canceled all examination and progression rules. The waiver applies only to the condition of obtaining at least 28 out of 44 credits under the new system. Other rules, published in July and September 2025, will apply as before. This exception applies only to students admitted in the 2025-2026 academic year.

Previously, DU announced the introduction of the 28-credit rule in July 2025, after which changes were made in September 2025 regarding the group of students to whom it would apply, and the decision was made to apply it to students enrolling in the 2025-2026 academic year.
