Honda launches 2027 City with new RS version and updates, maintaining current prices

Honda unveiled the 2027 lineup of the City this Friday (2), introducing the unprecedented RS version, which is exclusive to the hatchback body and tops the Brazilian catalog, surpassing the Touring version. This is the first Honda RS model launched in Brazil.

In addition to the new version, the manufacturer modernized the design of both the City hatchback and sedan and equipped the vehicles with a new 10-inch multimedia center. There were no modifications to the 1.5 liter naturally aspirated 126 hp engine or the CVT automatic transmission.

Pre-sales will begin this Saturday (5), offering a promotional batch of 3,000 units at the same prices as the 2026 line. Prices range from R$ 117,500 for the entry-level LX option to R$ 156,400 for the new RS version. After this batch sells out, the price of the LX version will be readjusted by R$ 200, and other versions will see an increase of R$ 1,100.

In response to g1's question about pricing strategy and the influence of Chinese competition, Ariel Mógor, Honda's marketing manager, stated that the company does not plan to enter a price war. He justified that high post-sale satisfaction and feedback from existing customers are important factors, and that the improvements to the City, combined with the small price adjustment, are sufficient to please the consumer.

Honda also uses its dealership network to value used Honda models when trading them for new cars. Between January and August 2026, the City family registered 18,909 registrations. Sales accelerated since July, with the prospect of the 2027 line, achieving the best results of the year.

However, the new and used vehicle market has shown strong price adjustments in 2026, driven by the arrival of new Chinese models in the R$ 100,000 to R$ 200,000 range, the segment where the City is positioned.

RS Version Details

The RS variant focuses on sporty aesthetic elements without altering mechanical aspects. Its look is characterized by the roof, mirror caps, antenna, and upper spoiler painted black. The City RS also incorporates a sporty exhaust tip, exclusive logos on the grille and trunk lid, in addition to 16-inch alloy wheels with black and darkened varnish finish.

At the rear, the RS features a differentiated bumper, whose central lower section is segmented into three parts, simulating an air diffuser. Internally, the new configuration includes a dark roof, aluminum pedals, and red stitching details on seats and upholstery. Externally, the vehicle can be gray or red, but always with a black roof.

Aesthetic Updates

The other configurations of the 2027 line also received visual modifications, mainly concentrated on the front end. The manufacturer changed the shape of the bumpers and standardized the use of Full LED headlights across all models. The Touring and RS versions were equipped with an LED light bar connecting the headlights and serving as a position light, following a market trend.

The front gained a new body-colored frame around the emblem, giving the appearance of a longer hood. All versions now feature a honeycomb-shaped upper grille with a slight inclination. In the sedan, the lower air intake has an inverted trapezoid shape with horizontal slats, while the hatchback displays a honeycomb grille on the lower front, with a section painted in the body color. Honda maintained differences in parts between the sedan and hatchback versions.

The rear of the sedan received a trapezoidal bumper with vertical reflectors at the ends, and the hatchback has a rear bumper with sharper cutouts. The 16-inch alloy wheels received new finishes, available in gray or black tones, depending on the version. The mechanical set remains unchanged in both bodies, using the 1.5L four-cylinder flex engine, with an aluminum block and cylinder head and direct fuel injection, delivering 126 hp with ethanol or gasoline, and 15.8 kgfm (ethanol) or 15.5 kgfm (gasoline) of torque.

The CVT automatic transmission simulates gear changes and automatically activates engine braking when detecting brake pedal use on descents. Declared fuel consumption figures are: City Sedan (City Ethanol: 9.1 km/l; Highway Ethanol: 10.8 km/l; City Gasoline: 12.9 km/l; Highway Gasoline: 15.3 km/l) and City Hatch (City Ethanol: 9.1 km/l; Highway Ethanol: 10.7 km/l; City Gasoline: 13.2 km/l; Highway Gasoline: 15.1 km/l).

Interior Improvements

The Touring and RS models were updated with a new 10-inch touch-sensitive multimedia center. This system supports multi-touch control for volume and lane change, in addition to offering wireless integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Honda opted for a more discreet and traditional approach in the center's design, unlike other brands that use colorful and animated screens.

In terms of safety, all vehicles are now equipped with six airbags. The brand's driving assistance features, including automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist, have become standard on the EX, EXL, RS, and Touring versions. Adaptive cruise control has been improved to follow the vehicle ahead at low speeds up to a complete stop.

The app connectivity feature, which allows monitoring the car and remotely turning on the air conditioning, is available starting from the EXL version. Additionally, the manufacturer extended the factory warranty to six years across the entire line, with no mileage limit. Sales of the new line will begin in November, but the current pre-sale maintains the 2026 line prices and offers free documentation for financing done through the manufacturer's bank. Honda informed that there are no plans to maintain the promotional prices in subsequent batches.
