The Minister signed a document establishing the Federal Institute of Sumare, which will operate in the territory of the former industrial zone on Da Saudade Avenue. This educational institution will be located in a building over 10 thousand square meters in size, where an electrical equipment factory was previously situated, and will be able to accommodate up to 1,400 students.
According to federal government information, the building will undergo minor reconstruction within the current six months to bring the premises into compliance. It is planned that all furniture and equipment will be delivered by the end of the year, which will require additional investments of more than 10 million reais.
Education Minister Leonardo Barcini stated that the equipment will arrive on site by the end of the year to ensure the start of the first courses in February or March of next year. Initially, the campus activities will begin with advanced training courses.
The determination of technical and higher education programs will take place after public hearings. These hearings are intended to gather the local community and representatives to discuss the educational needs of the city and region. In the long term, an expansion of the institute's educational offerings is expected, including bachelor's, licensure, and master's programs.
