The execution of the Life Proof follows a schedule based on the beneficiary's birth month. Initially, about 18,000 retirees and pensioners whose birthdays are in October will be the first to comply with the requirement, comprising approximately 13,000 civilians and 5,000 military personnel.
In total, the system covers about 230,000 beneficiaries in the state. These include 167,000 civilian retirees and pensioners, as well as approximately 62,000 inactive and military pensioners, distributed among firefighters (14,043) and military police officers (48,740).
The period stipulated for this procedure extends from October 5th to November 2nd, 2026, and the sequence will continue over the subsequent 12 months, strictly following the birthday of each retiree or pensioner.
For the biometric validation to be completed, it is essential that the beneficiary has a Gov.br account with Silver or Gold security level. Beyond being a mere verification, this life proof aims to provide greater control and administration of the state payroll, assisting in fraud detection and ensuring the regularity of social security payments.
Support available at Rioprevidência agencies
Rioprevidência will provide staff at its 15 posts and agencies spread across the state to clarify how to perform the Annual Digital Life Proof. The units are located in various cities, including Downtown Rio de Janeiro, Méier, Bangu, Niterói, São João de Meriti, Nova Friburgo, São Pedro da Aldeia, Campos dos Goytacazes, Barra do Piraí, and Miracema.
Additionally, there are service points for the agency at the Civil Police – Downtown Rio (Rua da Relação nº 42), Três Rios, Itaperuna, Petrópolis, and DVP- State Military Police Secretariat. Detailed instructions
The digital Life Proof must be performed using the official Gov.br application, utilizing facial biometrics. When performing facial recognition, the application confirms the existence of the insured person and transmits this information to the body responsible for benefit payments. To do this, you need to follow the indicated steps:
- Download and access the gov.br application.
- Create a gov.br account if you do not already have one.
- Log in to the application and, if necessary, provide data to raise the account level to silver or gold.
- On the main screen, under 'Services', select 'Life Proof'.
- In the 'Life Proof History' section, choose the 'Pending Life Proof' option.
- On the 'Authorization' screen, click 'Authorize'.
- Follow the instructions to perform facial recognition.
- After successfully completing the facial recognition, press 'OK'.
- On the Authorization screen, the Life Proof status will change to 'Authorized'.
Consequences of non-compliance
Benefit suspension may occur for retirees and pensioners who fail to complete the Life Proof within the specified deadline. However, during the initial months of implementing the Digital Life Proof, there will be a tolerance and adaptation period to allow beneficiaries to adjust to the new method before any suspension measures are applied.
A nominal list of those who do not appear will be published in the Official Gazette by the tenth business day of the month following the end of the procedure period. This list will also be accessible on the Rioprevidência portal. The interruption of payment for the inactive or pensioner who fails the Annual Digital Life Proof will occur in the month following the publication of the list of absentees in the Official Gazette. The return of the benefit will depend on completing the Life Proof, including retroactive amounts, according to the State's payment calendar.
Fraud prevention and warnings
Rioprevidência warns insured persons to use only the official Gov.br portal to execute the Digital Life Proof, reinforcing the need for caution against scams. It is crucial to pay attention when downloading the Gov.br portal for the procedure and avoid clicking on links that may lead to fake applications that look identical to the real one.
The agency also issues a warning about fraudulent contacts, as it does not send personal communications via email, phone, WhatsApp, or any other channel other than through the official means made available on the agency's website to the insured persons.
