Sales of electrified vehicles fall 1.5% in September, driven by electric and hybrid models

In September, 60,821 registrations of electrified vehicles were recorded in Brazil, corresponding to 22.9% of the total market. This figure indicates a decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous month.

Among the electrified models, the BYD Dolphin Mini was the best-selling in September, also ranking third in the overall monthly ranking. Following it, the GWM Haval H6 maintained its position as the most commercialized hybrid in the country.

Electrified Vehicle Market Analysis

According to a survey conducted by Bright Consulting, the electrified car segment in Brazil is dominated by fully electric models, which registered 22,119 units sold in September, representing 36.4% of this sector.

The second most sought-after category was plug-in hybrids (PHEV), followed by full hybrids (HEV). Mild hybrids (MHEV) performed worse than range-extender electric vehicles (REEV).

Due to the reduction in availability of mild hybrid versions of the Fiat Pulse, the Jeep Renegade became the best-selling car in this technology in September. Currently, Leapmotor is the only manufacturer offering REEV cars in Brazil, giving it exclusive dominance in this niche. The company plans to increase its supply of this technology with the launch of the B10 at the end of September, while external competition is expected later with the Icaur's V27.

In the full hybrid segment, Omoda led, as Toyota has not produced the Corolla for two months due to the model's factory change. The Chery Global coupe SUV registered sales of 3,616 units in September.

Projections indicate growth in the sales of electrified cars until the end of the year. Geely and GAC have already confirmed domestic production of electric vehicles for 2026. Furthermore, new models will arrive by the end of the year, including options from brands newly presented at the Interlagos Festival. Established brands are also advancing electrification, such as Renault, which confirmed hybrid versions for the Boreal and the Niagara pickup.
