Amazon expands ultra-fast delivery service Amazon Now to over 120 Indian cities

E-commerce giant Amazon has expanded its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, making it available in over 120 cities across India. In the last two weeks, the company has doubled its network presence, strengthening its logistics infrastructure ahead of the festive season.

According to the announcement, the service is now operational in locations such as Amritsar, Abohar, Jalandhar, Ambala, Mangalore, Manipur, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Changanassery, Bhubaneswar, and Karwar.

Amazon Now provides customers access to tens of thousands of products, including groceries, fruits and vegetables, frozen goods, personal hygiene items, fashion and beauty products, small home appliances, as well as home and kitchenware. Order fulfillment is managed through a network comprising nearly 800 micro-fulfillment centers and urban distribution points.

The company's statement emphasizes the excitement of rolling out Amazon Now's ultra-fast delivery into the heartland of India—from Amritsar and Abohar in the north to Kochi and Changanassery in the south—before the Amazon Great Indian Festival begins. The company notes that Amazon Now is the fastest-growing segment of e-commerce in Amazon India's history, with order volume doubling quarterly.

Harsh Goyal, Vice President of Everyday Essentials at Amazon India, stated that the accelerated rollout underscores the company's commitment to providing fast and reliable delivery to customers nationwide. He added that they intend to continue scaling up and offering the widest range of products with the fastest delivery speeds during this festive season.

Previously, in September, Amazon reported that Amazon Now's annual gross merchandise value in India exceeded $1 billion over the preceding three-month period. The company's plans include expanding the service to over 300 cities and creating what it calls the largest 'minutes delivery' network in India.

The company specified that its overall fulfillment system is capable of delivering tens of thousands of items within hours, over a million items per day for next-day delivery, and millions more through Prime delivery.

As part of the Amazon Great Indian Festival, starting on October 8th, Amazon Now will also offer special promotions. Customers can receive discounts on smartphones, electronics, fashion, cosmetics, and home goods. SBI cardholders can avail an instant 10% discount on eligible transactions, while Prime members will receive additional discounts of up to 10%.
