UK startup Extend Robotics raises £2.6m to sell production services instead of equipment

The startup Extend Robotics, which specializes in embodied artificial intelligence (embodied-AI), has completed an early funding round of £2.6 million. These funds will be used to expand its 'Result-as-a-Service' model across European industrial markets.

The round was led by the Skyworks Venture Capital Fund, with participation from Neo Venture (Europe) and Zip Capital. Instead of selling physical machines, the company offers a ready-made scope of work, the cost of which is directly tied to the result and scales according to demand.

Chang Liu, the founder and CEO of the company, noted that manufacturers are interested in automation but wish to avoid capital risks. Thanks to the results-based pricing, Extend Robotics assumes the operational risks of implementation.

The company's AMAS platform allows operators without robotics experience to remotely control robotic arms or humanoids through an immersive three-dimensional interface. Artificial intelligence handles the routine parts of each task, expanding the pool of specialists available for dangerous or remote work.

European manufacturing faces a serious labor shortage in environments characterized by small batches, high product mix, and danger. Extend Robotics aims to fill these gaps through human-robot collaboration. Currently, the platform serves 35 subscribers in the automotive, aerospace, nuclear energy, robotics, and agriculture sectors. The company's profit has doubled annually for three consecutive years.

Examples of practical applications include working with Adrian Scripps, a major apple producer in the UK, where an Extend Robotics humanoid monitors quality on the packaging line in real time. At the Leyland Trucks facility, the platform trained a robot to install high-voltage service disconnect blocks and perform custom painting.

Extend Robotics maintains hardware neutrality. In January, the firm was recognized as an official integrator of Unitree Robotics, and it was presented by NVIDIA at the Robotics Startup Showcase during GTC 2026.

Startup GENISOM AI raises hundreds of millions of yuan in Series B round for task-performing robots

The Chinese robotics startup GENISOM AI has successfully completed a Series B funding round, attracting hundreds of millions of yuan. The investment was led by Stone Venture, based in the UAE, indicating significant international support for advanced embodied artificial intelligence technologies.

The capital raised will be directed towards developing the hardware of embodied intelligence robots and their ability to perform complex tasks. The company plans to move beyond simple autonomous navigation, aiming to improve its GSD autonomous navigation system and enhance the overall price competitiveness of its devices.

Research and development efforts will focus on four key areas: motion intelligence, spatial intelligence, interactive intelligence, and swarm intelligence.

A wide range of investors participated in the round. Among the financial sponsors were Hongshan Capital, Yueke Finance, Wuzhong Rongyue, and Wuzhong Financial Holding. Additionally, strategic industry players such as Neusoft Group, Highpower Technology, Vision Capital, and Riying Electronics invested. This combination of financial and industrial backing underscores the growing demand for robots that can perform work independently, rather than just entering a site.
