Iranian Wrestling Champion Nohodi Wins Gold Medal at Asian Games in Nagoya

Mohammad Nohodi from Iran won the gold medal in wrestling at the 2026 Asian Games, which took place on Friday.

He defeated Hayato Ishiguro from Japan with a score of 9:6 in the men's freestyle 86 kg weight class. Nohodi's gold medal is the thirteenth gold award for Iran at these Games.

Before the final, Nohodi beat Chiranuvat Chamnandjang from Thailand with a score of 11:0, Lee Gyeong-yong from South Korea with a score of 11:1, and Malik Shavaev from Kyrgyzstan with a score of 3:0.

Two bronze medals were won by Olonbayaryn Sukhuu from Mongolia and Malik Shavaev. The wrestling competition at the 2026 Asian Games will take place from September 30 to October 3 in the Ine Sports Center.
