Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy deemed forcing consumers to use private gas company services illegal

The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan stated that forcing citizens to use the services of private organizations for servicing gas stoves and boilers is illegal.

The department reported situations where employees of various companies, offering their services to residents, claimed that maintenance was mandatory and threatened disconnection from gas supply if refused.

According to current legislation, only legal entities possessing the relevant permits can perform technical maintenance of gas-using equipment and gas networks. These services are provided to the consumer based on a written, verbal, or electronic request, according to approved tariffs and conditions, clarified the Ministry of Energy.

The Ministry emphasized that private companies do not have the right to disconnect consumers from the gas network for refusing their services. The right to disconnection belongs exclusively to the gas supply organization, and only in the event of arrears by the subscriber.

Consumers who wish to check the technical condition or receive service for gas equipment can independently contact local gas supply organizations. Cases of being forced to use private services or threats of gas disconnection can be reported to the Ministry of Energy via the hotline at 71-231-10-64 or through the Telegram bot. Additionally, the company 'Hududgaztaʼminot' accepts appeals at phone numbers 71-202-11-04 and 1104, as well as through its Telegram bot.
