The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights reported that numerous violations and deficiencies were discovered at 127 facilities among 301 enterprises engaged in flour production in Uzbekistan.
This figure accounts for 42% of all business entities in this industry in the country. To conduct the inspection, the Committee carried out an inventory together with the Inspection for Agro-Industrial Complex Control under the Cabinet of Ministers. During the inspection, the production capabilities of the enterprises, grain processing volumes and finished product output, as well as warehouse capacities were studied, and the presence of necessary documents, including certificates of conformity and sanitary-epidemiological conclusions, was checked.
The inspection results revealed several problems: 49 enterprises lacked their own production capacities and operated based on toll processing agreements. Furthermore, 22 enterprises were temporarily suspended from operations, and the work of 6 enterprises was halted. Among the identified shortcomings, 42 enterprises did not have certificates of conformity, and 8 enterprises lacked sanitary-epidemiological conclusions.
In this regard, the Committee submitted proposals to the relevant authorities. These proposals concern strengthening supervision over how enterprises use wheat purchased from the State Agricultural Support Fund through the exchange, and are aimed at improving existing regulatory mechanisms in this area.
