The Vande Bharat Express train has been assigned a route between Surat and Udaipur, and its commencement date is approaching. This new train, which will connect the 'diamond city' of Surat with Udaipur, known as the 'city of lakes,' is already accepting passengers, with operations starting this week. Thanks to this train, the distance between Surat and Udaipur will be covered in just 7 hours and 30 minutes.
According to updated information published by the railway, the train numbers 26903/26904 will operate on this route. Information regarding the start of ticket sales for train number 26903 was provided from October 1, 2026, on Thursday. Tickets can be purchased through all PRS counters and on the IRCTC website. The official inauguration is scheduled for October 2.
As per Western Railway, train number 26903 will depart from Surat every morning at 06:10 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, arriving in Udaipur the same day at 13:40. Operations for this train will commence on October 4, 2026. Similarly, train number 26904 will depart from Udaipur at 15:35 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, arriving in Surat the same day at 23:00. The start of service for this train is planned for October 3.
The Vande Bharat Express will make stops at pre-determined stations along the Surat-Udaipur railway line. These stops include Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Maninagar, Asrava, Himmatnagar, Shamlaji Road, Dungarpur, and Jawar.
The railway company notes that the availability of the Surat-Vande Bharat Express train will significantly ease the lives of passengers and tourists from Surat and South Gujarat. It should be noted that this train will not run on Tuesdays. The travel time between Surat and Udaipur will now be only 7 hours and 30 minutes.
This Vande Bharat train will consist of 8 coaches, including Executive Chair Car and AC Chair Car classes. The railway requests passengers to carry original identification documents for all booked tickets.
