ETT Teachers from Punjab Protested Outside Sisodia's Residence Over Low Wages

The patience of teachers who shape the future of children in Punjab's government schools has completely run out. Around 180 ETT (Elementary Teacher Training) teachers headed to Sector-39 Chandigarh on Friday, a high-security zone, to demand their rightful salary.

These teachers, along with their families, took up a position in front of house number 960 in this sector, where the official residences of senior ministers of the Punjab government are located, loudly expressing dissatisfaction with the Punjab government. According to available information, the senior leader of AAP and former Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, resides in this house.

Discussing their situation with an aajtak.in correspondent on site, the protesting teachers stated that they have only been receiving half of their entitled salary for a long time. Under current inflation, it has become impossible to support a family on such a low amount.

The teachers stated that they had repeatedly approached officials and ministers regarding their demands, but since no action was taken, they were forced to hold a picket outside the ministers' residences in the upscale area of Chandigarh.

While the Punjab government claims a 'revolution in education' in the state and promises world-class conditions for teachers, these teachers, protesting in the streets of Chandigarh's capital for full payment, cast doubt on these claims. At the time of writing this article, the protesting teachers remained near the residence, demanding written guarantees from the administration.
