Tennessee was forced to halt the execution of Krista Gail Pike after two unsuccessful doses of the lethal drug were administered. According to her lawyers, Pike, who was sentenced to death for a murder committed in 1995, remained alive and snoring after the failed injections, after which she was transported by ambulance from the prison.
Following this incident, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee suspended the remaining executions for the year.
