The fifth edition of the São Paulo Food Film Fest returns to the capital city of São Paulo, uniting cinema and gastronomy. The festival will take place from October 1st to 14th and will have free admission, featuring 42 films, in addition to debates, masterclasses, and various culinary activities.

Activities will be distributed across four locations: Reserva Cultural, Centro Cultural São Paulo (CCSP), Roberto Santos Library, and two Unified Educational Centers (CEUs) of the Spcine Circuit. Part of the program will also be accessible via the Spcine Play platform.

After certain screenings, the public will have the opportunity to taste dishes and drinks inspired by the films shown. Furthermore, there will be a gastronomic fair, workshops focused on audiovisual and cuisine, and thematic meetings about food.

Program Highlights

Among the featured titles is the screening of Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos (1976) by Bruno Barreto, which will celebrate 50 years in 2026. The selection includes A Viagem de Chihiro (2001), which completes 25 years and references Japanese cuisine; Alice no País das Maravilhas (1951), at 75 years, with its tea party; Conta Comigo (1986), celebrating 40 years and featuring the famous blueberry pie; and Curtindo a Vida Adoidado (1986), also 40 years old, in a scene set in the universe of Chicago hot dogs.

With support from the French Embassy in Brazil, the festival will screen two films related to the Cannes Film Festival: Amor e Queijo (2024), which won an award at the Un Certain Regard section, dedicated to original and daring productions, and À Sombra das Figueiras (2022), selected for the Quinzena des Réalisateurs, a non-competitive parallel festival. The first film tells the story of a young man who decides to make artisanal cheese to help his family, while the second takes place during the fig harvest in Tunisia.
