It was reported in Tehran that Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Alireza Abdavali won a gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games on Thursday.
In the final match in the under 77 kg weight category, he defeated the Japanese athlete Nao Kusaka with a score of 5:3. This success marks Iran's twelfth gold medal at these Games.
Before the final, Abdavali also defeated Indian athlete Andiku Suleman with a score of 8:0, as well as Shahin Badagi with a score of 9:0.
Bronze medals were won by Akzhol Mahmudov from Kyrgyzstan and Shahin Badagi from Qatar.
The men's Greco-Roman wrestling competitions are taking place at the Inae Sports Center in Nagoya.
