The beginning of October was marked by several significant changes in the country, including an increase in prices for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, which will affect citizens' budgets. Simultaneously, a new initiative, PNG Drive 3.0, has launched.
The goal of this program is to connect 20,000 daily connections for piped natural gas (PNG Connection). The government aims to reduce the consumption of household and commercial LPG through this scheme.
The PNG Drive 3.0 program is designed to accelerate the transition of consumers from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to PNG. The government is actively preparing the infrastructure for the rapid provision of these gas connections, setting a goal to add 20 thousand piped gas connections daily. The main objective is to decrease the use of LPG for both domestic and commercial purposes.
As part of PNG Drive 3.0, the organization PNGRB has identified eighty new geographical areas (GA). The government is focusing on expanding the pipeline gas infrastructure to increase the number of connections and conversions to PNG. Following the escalation of the crisis in the Middle East due to the war between the US and Iran, over 10,000 connections/conversions were made daily, and now the government plans to double this rate.
For user convenience, a new portal will be launched under this program, the preparation of which is nearing completion. It is planned that clients will be able to apply for connections and submit complaints through a single platform.
By connecting to PNG, people no longer have to worry about ordering cylinders every month; gas is supplied continuously to homes via the pipeline. The government is actively promoting the use of PNG in the country, and this is why the PNG Drive 3.0 program was launched. According to reports, this campaign was initially expected to start in September 2026.
Connecting to PNG offers several significant advantages. The most important of these is that there is no need to order a cylinder every month. Gas is available 24/7, eliminating the problem of sudden depletion. Furthermore, the meter and pipe are installed in a small corner of the kitchen, freeing up space previously occupied by the LPG cylinder. Payment is also made strictly proportional to the volume of gas used.
