Shenzhen Airlines launched its first flight from Bandar Seri Begawan to Shenzhen on Tuesday, officially opening a new round-trip route between Brunei and southern China, specifically Shenzhen.
A formal ceremony was held at the Brunei International Airport for this significant event. Representatives of government bodies, diplomatic missions, aviation industry participants, and delegates from Chinese institutions in Brunei attended to witness this important milestone.
Among the distinguished guests were Yang Mulia Dayan Ku Haji Mazliza binti Pengiran Haji Mahali, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Trade) and Acting Permanent Secretary (Industry) of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Also present was Chen Shaocun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, and Yang Mulia Haji Nur Fariza Munyati Haji Abd Adji, Acting Deputy Director of the Tourism Development Department of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Furthermore, Shi Junke, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Anthony Lim Tong Wun, President of Shenzhen Airlines General Sales Agent, and Joshua Low, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Brunei Airlines, were at the event.
The launch of this new round-trip route has begun operations, creating a convenient air bridge connecting Brunei with the Greater Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao area of China. This also expands Shenzhen Airlines' network in Southeast Asia.
It is expected that this direction will promote increased bilateral trade and investment, as well as cultural exchange, tourism, and people-to-people ties, offering travelers new opportunities for business trips, sightseeing, and visiting relatives.
During the ceremony, all participants congratulated the launch and expressed hope that air connectivity would contribute to deepening practical cooperation between China and Brunei in various fields.
Shenzhen Airlines stated its commitment to improving service quality and operational efficiency, supporting friendly relations between the two countries and contributing to regional integration and development.
