It has recently become a very common trend on streaming platforms to mix stories about rural problems with humor. This trend, which started with the series 'Panchayat', has spread to medical institutions and 'Dupahiya'. Viewers highly rated all these shows on Prime Video. The series 'Dupahiya' was released last year and received great acclaim then. It told the story of the village of Dhadhpur in Bihar, where the groom needed a motorcycle (dupahiya) as part of the dowry.
The first season showed how a poor family tried to solve this problem, and how fraud and politics interfered in the process. In the second season, the story of Dhadhpur village continues, now touching upon serious topics such as 5G towers and exam material leaks. Even from the trailer, it was clear that the second season would be as exciting as the previous one. Let's look at the details.
Banwari Lal Ja (Gajraj Rao) and his family are going through difficult times after the breakdown of their marriage. The master lost his job, causing the family to be unable to cover living expenses. Raushni (Shivani Raguvanshi) is preparing for the SSC exams but cannot pass them successfully due to lack of interest. Geography (Sparsh Srivastava) now earns a living through dancing, which causes disapproval from his father. One day, an offer comes to the village to install a 5G tower, and if the tower is installed on someone's land, it will bring a lot of money. In this situation, luck smiles upon Banwari Lal.
However, rumors circulating in the market regarding 5G once again cast a shadow over his life. On the other hand, Raushni, with the help of Amavas (Bhuvan Arora), wants to pass the exam using a cheat sheet. This is where Pratham Kumar (Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua) comes in, who runs an illegal group where students can pass exams by cheating. He helps Raushni pass the exam successfully through the leak of materials. But police inspector Mitilish (Yashpal Sharma) finds out about this illegal act. Now the entire Ja family is entangled in two cases—those related to 5G and exam leaks—in the village.
The question is how they will manage to get out of this situation? The answer lies within the series itself.
The work of writers Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg makes this show outstanding. Their witty lines, dialogues, plot, and screenplay are very strong. Both have made this show perfectly suited for a family audience. The previous season was also filled with many funny jokes and one-liners, and some scenes were simply amazing; this magic continued in this season too. Nevertheless, the series was not perfect, as there were storylines that looked ruined at the end, as if they lacked much meaning.
Director Sonam Nair gave good screen time to all his characters, allowing them to showcase themselves. No character in the series dominates the others. A unique feature of the web series 'Dupahiya' is that each character is unique and contributes to the spectacle, which is very entertaining to watch. It also has unexpected twists that completely prevent the viewer from getting bored from beginning to end. Joy and smiles remain on the viewer's face.
As I mentioned about the web series 'Dupahiya', every character is unique and amusing, and each of them adds something new to the show. Whether it is Banwari Lal, Raushni, Amavas, Geography, Pushpalata Yadav, Kubar Tripathi, Tipu, or Pratham Kumar, who appeared this season—they all put their heart into this show, making it entertaining. Gajraj Rao, Anjuman Saxena, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raguvanshi, Renuka Shahane, and Nirahua have all excelled this season.
But, as last time, Sparsh Srivastava attracted widespread attention. The changes he showed in Geography's portrayal—emotions, excitement, and calmness—are truly commendable. In the dance scenes, he demonstrated incredible skill. As for the other actors, Yashpal Sharma and Komal Khushwaha also provided excellent support. In this season, the stories of their characters also progressed, which was pleasant to see. Overall, if you want to watch a good show during the upcoming long holidays, 'Dupahiya Season 2' must be on your watchlist. This series will make you laugh a lot and cry a little.
