JLR has introduced its electric model, the Range Rover Sport Electric, and has started taking orders for this SUV. This model is the first electric vehicle in the Range Rover Sport lineup.
The car is equipped with a 118.5 kWh battery, which provides the claimed range of 609 kilometers. This SUV will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system designed to match the performance of the gasoline Range Rover Sport.
The Range Rover Sport Electric is built on JLR's 800-volt architecture, enabling it to achieve the stated range of 609 km. The battery comes with an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty.
The electric SUV will receive dual-motor all-wheel drive, delivering 550 hp and 850 Nm of torque. The company claims that this torque figure is the highest among all Range Rover Sport models, and also notes that the vehicle builds torque faster compared to the larger Range Rover Electric.
The Range Rover Sport Electric is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.5 seconds. The vehicle supports fast DC charging up to 350 kW, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in only 22 minutes. With a 10-minute charge, the vehicle can provide a range of up to 220 kilometers.
The interior of the SUV is largely similar to its internal combustion engine variants. It includes a three-spoke steering wheel with touch controls, a 13.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 13.7-inch driver display; both screens feature menus specific to electric vehicles.
The cabin is equipped with 4-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, and heated and ventilated seats, which can be fitted with rear sunshades. The vehicle is expected to go on sale in March of next year, with an estimated price of 2.5 crore rupees. Orders are currently open.
