Electric scooter sales in India increased by 108%; demand for Hero Vida models is high

There is a steady growth in the sales of electric two-wheelers in the Indian market, indicating the increasing popularity of electric motorcycles among the population. Electric scooters are particularly in demand.

According to August data, sales across all companies reached double-digit and triple-digit figures. In August 2026, the total number of electric two-wheelers sold was 187,214 units, compared to 76,118 units in August 2025. This demonstrates a 146 percent year-on-year growth in the segment.

Hero Vida has established itself as the fourth most popular brand. Last month, Vida sold 25,558 electric scooters, whereas in August 2025, the company sold 12,273 electric two-wheelers. Thus, Vida's sales grew by 108 percent year-on-year.

Vida's portfolio includes five models presented under the VX2 and V2 series. Among them is the latest VX2 Go model, which is available with three battery options: 2.2kWh, 3.1kWh, and 3.4kWh. The price of the Vida VX2 Go model with a 2.2kWh battery in Delhi is 79,999 rupees excluding tax.

This scooter has a claimed range of 93 kilometers. Assuming home charging at a rate of 8 rupees per unit, the cost of a full charge will be about 20 rupees. However, the actual mileage will be lower than stated, resulting in an average operating cost of 25 paise per kilometer, or 4 kilometers per rupee.

Regarding the best-selling scooters in India in August, Bajaj Chetak leads with 52,248 units sold. TVS iQube is in second place, having sold 42,882 units. Hero Vida ranked third with 25,558 units sold. Ather Rizta took fourth place with 22,586 units sold. TVS Orbiter entered fifth place with 14,641 units sold. Additionally, 9,772 units of Greaves Magnus and 6,891 units of Ather 450 were sold.

The electric scooter segment is experiencing one of the highest growth rates in the market, excluding three-wheeled electric vehicles. Monthly sales of electric scooters are increasing, and in the first five months of the 2026-27 fiscal year, companies demonstrated impressive results in the domestic market. The growth of this segment year-on-year was 114 percent.

In the first five months, 791,325 electric scooters were sold in India. Regarding exports, overall for the segment of scooters manufactured in India (including ICE and electric models), a 34% growth was noted, with the total volume of exported scooters reaching 358,993 units.

Specifically for electric scooters, exports showed a colossal growth of 450% year-on-year. Between April and August 2026, companies exported 15,418 electric scooters, compared to only 2,807 units sent in the same period last year. This figure indicates growing demand for Indian electric scooters in foreign markets, which is happening against the backdrop of rising fuel prices in many parts of the world.

An analysis of exports by company shows that TVS Motor Company leads. This company exported 6,702 electric scooters between April and August, significantly exceeding the 1,850 units exported the previous year, demonstrating a year-on-year growth of 262%. Bajaj Auto also performed strongly, exporting 4,818 units compared to 218 units sent last year, corresponding to an increase of 2,194% year-on-year.

Ather Energy also showed good growth, exporting 3,573 electric scooters from April to August 2026, whereas this figure was 742 units last year, meaning an export growth of 382% year-on-year. Additionally, Grievs Electric exported 169 units, and Hero MotoCorp (Vida) exported 135 units.

As for models, among those exported were 5,738 units of TVS iQube, 4,818 units of Bajaj Chetak, 1,874 units of Ather 450, 1,699 units of Ather Rigta, and 964 units of TVS Orbiter. 135 units of Hero Vida, 82 units of Ampere Nexza, and 51 units of Magnus were also exported.

The 256 GB Moto G77 model, accessible for R$ 1,529 via Pix, runs on Android 16 and will be entitled to at least three operating system updates. The phone also integrates 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.
