MTN Uganda has partnered with Huawei to improve the quality of the home broadband experience by integrating LinkHome—a smart home management application—which is now fully integrated into the MyMTN app. This integration provides MTN Home customers with self-service tools to directly monitor and manage their home connections through this application.
As Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technology accelerates its rollout across Uganda, home broadband access has become an integral part of daily life. Families are connecting more devices for work, study, and entertainment, raising expectations for fast, reliable, and convenient connectivity. For MTN Uganda, simply providing connectivity is no longer enough; the next step is delivering a higher quality digital experience to every household.
Integrated into MyMTN, LinkHome consolidates several functions for managing home broadband access into one application. Users can view connected devices, monitor network status, perform Wi-Fi diagnostics, optimize home Wi-Fi coverage, and use parental controls, giving them better oversight and control over their home network.
MTN Uganda notes a positive reception to the service, with customers praising the simplicity and convenience of the offering. Approximately 40% of MyMTN Home app users have adopted LinkHome, and the operator has recorded a decrease in support calls related to home Wi-Fi, contributing to increased customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Franklin Ocharo, General Manager for Growth and New Business at MTN Uganda, stated: 'As our FTTH customer base continues to grow, ensuring an outstanding home broadband experience has become a strategic priority.' He added that by integrating LinkHome into MyMTN, the company is empowering customers by giving them greater control over their home networks, supporting its Ambition 2030 vision of providing world-class digital services.

Huawei emphasizes that smart home services are becoming a crucial component of the digital home experience. Zhang Hao, Managing Director of Huawei Uganda, noted: 'Our partnership with MTN Uganda is more than just technology; it is about making home broadband easier to use and creating greater value for consumers.' He also mentioned that they will continue to collaborate with MTN to deliver more innovative digital home experiences to more Ugandan families.
