Vedanta raises 200 billion rupees by issuing unsecured debt obligations

Vedanta Ltd announced on Wednesday that it has successfully raised an amount of 200 billion rupees through the issuance of unsecured debt obligations based on a private placement.

The purpose of this fundraising is to diversify the company's financing structure and strengthen its balance sheet during the refinancing of existing debts. In regulatory filings, the company specified that these unsecured debt obligations (NCDs) will be rated, listed, and redeemable, with the nominal value of each obligation being 1 lakh rupees.

According to the filing, 'the duly constituted board of directors of the company approved the allotment of 200,000... unsecured, redeemable, rated, listed unsecured debt obligations of face value of 1,00,000 rupees each, totaling 20,00,00,000 rupees (Bonds) on a private placement basis.'

Unsecured debt obligations are corporate debt instruments with a fixed term and fixed income, which allow capital to be raised without providing options for conversion into equity capital upon maturity. Previously, Vedanta stated that its net debt as of June 30, 2026, was 8,299 billion rupees.

Vedanta Ltd is positioned as a leading global producer of critical metals, minerals, and technologies.
