The Gauteng Golden Retriever Day event will be held again in the Gauteng province, taking place in Pretoria. The event is intended for owners of Golden Retrievers and their dogs and is the second annual event of its kind.
The organizers of the event are Gauteng Golden Retrievers. The family event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Moreleta Kerk in Pretoria. The main goal of the fundraising is to support the non-profit organization Golden Retriever Rescue South Africa (GRRSA).
GRRSA is a registered charity that helps needy Golden Retrievers through a network of volunteers in various regions of the country. Last year's event saw the participation of 149 Golden Retrievers, and the organizers hope to surpass this success by holding another day in honor of the breed and supporting rescue operations.
Various activities are planned as part of the event, including an aqua pool, a dog obedience course, and stalls with goods from vendors offering accessories, treats, and other pet supplies. Consultations with behavioral experts will also be available to visitors.
Organizer Sandra Pavich noted that the idea of holding the fundraiser in Gauteng was inspired by large Golden Retriever gatherings held in countries such as Scotland, Australia, and the United States, with fundraising for GRRSA remaining the main objective.
Liesel Mortimer, head of GRRSA, previously expressed gratitude to the organizers, vendors, sponsors, and participants for their support, emphasizing that the volunteer organization depends on public assistance for the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of Golden Retrievers.
Organizers also pay great attention to the safety of both dogs and people. Participating dogs must be socialized, vaccinated, and dewormed, and must also have collars or harnesses with identification tags. The event will be off-leash, and dogs in heat are not allowed. Owners are responsible for their dogs throughout the event.
Children under 16 years old can attend the event for free, while general tickets are available for adults and their dogs. A limited number of gift bags containing products from event sponsors will also be given out. Brands of pet health products such as PetShop Science, Badoodoo, Sniffle Snuffle, and Vets2Pets participated in supporting the event.
