The project team presented the concept for the PANE MixC store in Shenyang, developed by the say architects bureau. The PANE brand combines the rationality of Ancient Greece and the spirit of the East in everyday footwear, creating durable products that merge classicism and modernity.
Approaching the north, the say architects team aimed for the store to convey not only the brand but also the memory of the city itself. The memory of Shenyang is formed in layers of old and industrial. The city features Western-style buildings dating back to the 1920s, situated next to heavy industry that later emerged with powerful noise—harsh, cold, bearing the weight of machinery.
However, one should try on shoes slowly, while seated. How could a brand that shows no signs of aging fit into an industrial city? Therefore, the architectural team did not transplant a new city into Shenyang; instead, they invited the very time of Shenyang to enter the store.
