There is a possibility that Yamaha may stop the production of its popular motorcycle, the Yamaha R15M. The R15 model is highly popular among sports bike enthusiasts, and the company offers several models in the R15 series.
According to available reports, after the release of the Yamaha R2, the company may make changes to the positioning of its motorcycle lineup. As part of these changes, the discontinuation of the Yamaha R15M is possible. This would create a more significant gap between the Yamaha R15 V4 and the Yamaha R2.
Despite these assumptions, Yamaha has not made any official statements on this matter. Currently, the R15M occupies an intermediate position between the Yamaha R15 V4 and the R2. This model is equipped with a 155cc engine, but it features more functions and more premium finishing compared to the R15 V4.
The cessation of production of this bike will simplify the Yamaha R series lineup, where the Yamaha R15 V4 will become a more accessible option, and the R2 will take the next level position.
If a buyer needs a sports motorcycle at a lower price, they can consider the R15 V4, while those looking for more premium features and performance will prefer the R2.
Comparing the prices of these motorcycles, the Yamaha R15 S costs 1.59 lakh rupees, and the Yamaha R15 V4 starts from 1.75 to 1.79 lakh rupees. The Yamaha R15M is priced in the range of 1.90 to 2 lakh rupees. The recently released Yamaha R2 starts from 2.3 to 2.4 lakh rupees, and the Yamaha R2M is 2.53 lakh rupees.
If Yamaha discontinues the R15M, the price gap between the R2 and the R15 series will increase from the current 30 thousand rupees to 51 thousand rupees. In August, 7,691 units of the R15 series were sold, marking the lowest sales figure for the R15 in August of this fiscal year.
