Archaeologists presented the results of work conducted during rescue excavations in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige (Trentino-South Tyrol). As early as April 2026, researchers found remains of an Iron Age dwelling in the settlement of Galgenbihl, which was built on a hillside.
Subsequent excavations allowed for the identification of over thirty similar structures. Initially, these structures appeared to be wooden buildings, but they were erected on stone foundations. According to expert information, this settlement operated approximately from 800 to 500 BC.
The settlement occupied a strategic position, located on a significant route connecting various Alpine valleys. The regional archaeological service informed about this discovery.
