Gasoline and diesel fuel prices announced in the UAE for October 2026

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has published new fuel prices that will take effect on October 1, 2026. Previously, there was a slight increase in tariffs in September following price hikes in August. However, in July, fuel prices in the UAE decreased after four consecutive monthly increases caused by the regional war.

According to the new set rates, Super 98 gasoline will cost 4.40 dirhams per liter, up from 3.8 dirhams in September. Special 95 gasoline will cost 4.28 dirhams per liter, compared to the current price of 3.69 dirhams. E-Plus 91 gasoline prices will be 4.21 dirhams per liter, an increase from the previous rate of 3.61 dirhams per liter.

The price of diesel fuel is set at 4.80 dirhams per liter, which is higher than the September level of 4.3 dirhams. Since the start of the war in the Middle East on February 28, retail fuel prices in the UAE have risen by more than 60 percent, before falling in July, and then rising again in August and September.

The situation in the Middle East remains tense: the 60-day ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran has expired, and Washington does not intend to extend it, while Tehran threatens conflict escalation. Concurrently, the Houthis have intensified attacks on oil infrastructure in the Red Sea.

Monthly changes in gasoline prices in the UAE directly affect household budgets, as fuel is a necessary and regular expense for most families. Even a small price increase over time may require drivers to allocate a larger portion of their income to fuel.

UAE Announces Fuel Prices for October 2026: Price Hike Linked to Global Oil Quotations

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has published fuel prices effective for October 2026. These tariffs show an increase across all fuel types compared to September rates. The price hike occurs amid the ongoing rise in global oil prices, as crude oil traded at approximately $107 per barrel on Tuesday, September 29, extending the increase for the second consecutive session.

In recent months, fuel prices have fluctuated. In September and August, rates saw a slight increase after a decrease in July, which followed four months of continuous price increases amid the regional war.

Fuel prices approved by the UAE Ministry of Energy are set monthly. They are calculated based on the average global oil price, with subsequent addition of distributors' operating costs.

The new rates will take effect on October 1st. Depending on the vehicle type, filling a full tank of gasoline in October will cost between Dh30.09 and Dh44.4 more than in September. Data is provided on the cost of a full tank for capacities of 51, 62, and 74 liters.

Monthly changes in gasoline prices in the UAE directly affect the financial situation of households, as fuel remains a necessary and regular expense for most families. Even small fluctuations can accumulate over time, and with rising prices, drivers often have to allocate a large portion of their income to cover fuel expenses.

Previously, in 2022, the UAE recorded record fuel prices following the war between Russia and Ukraine, when the cost exceeded the Dh4 per liter mark for the first time.

Possible rise in gasoline prices in the UAE in October due to global oil prices

There is a possibility of fuel price increases in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October, as global oil prices traded above the $100 mark for most of September.

Brent crude quotations remained above $100 per barrel for most of September. This was driven by ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure, which supported high global crude oil prices in September.

The average closing price in September 2026 was slightly over $101 per barrel, higher than $87.7 per barrel in August 2026. Consequently, local retail fuel prices will be adjusted in line with global rates next month.

The UAE deregulated local fuel tariffs in 2015 to align them with world prices; therefore, revised rates are announced at the end of each month.

In September 2026, retail fuel prices were increased by approximately 0.20 dirhams per liter. This set the prices for Super 98, Special 95, and E-Plus 91 at 3.8 dirhams, 3.69 dirhams, and 3.61 dirhams per liter, respectively.

On Thursday morning, Brent and WTI quotes stood at $103.2 and $92.19 per barrel. Vijay Valecha, Chief Investment Officer at Century Financial, noted that markets are increasingly focusing on diplomatic efforts to end the war between the US and Iran.

He added that the recent decline put Brent on a path of its longest losing streak since June, while improved transit through the Strait of Hormuz eased some immediate supply concerns that had caused sharp rises in crude oil.

Valecha also emphasized that Brent remains nearly 70 percent higher this year, and the supply situation remains fragile due to ongoing risks to Middle Eastern infrastructure and constant attacks on Russian energy facilities.

He concluded that Saudi Arabia continues to restore its east-to-west pipeline following recent attacks, and uncertainty regarding alternative routes around Hormuz underscores the continued importance of this waterway for global energy flows. For now, improved transit and diplomatic efforts are putting pressure on prices, but with persistent supply risks, the $100 Brent level remains a key area to assess whether the current decline can turn into a sustained downward trend.
