Etihad Rail Station in Dubai Opens: Distance to Key Attractions from Al-Yalayis

The first Etihad Rail station in Dubai opened on September 30th, offering residents a new way to travel between emirates. The first passenger train will depart from the Al-Yalayis station on Wednesday at 6:14 AM. Located in the Jumeirah Golf Estates area, the station connects to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, as well as the Dubai Metro.

For those planning to continue their journey around Dubai, the station provides direct access to the Red Line. A specially equipped pedestrian bridge located right at the station entrance connects it to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro station. According to an information stand inside the station, the walk takes about five minutes. The bridge itself is approximately 400 meters long, allowing passengers to transfer from Etihad Rail to the Dubai Metro without needing a taxi or crossing roads. After reaching the Red Line, travelers can reach various locations across Dubai.

For those driving to the station by personal car or taxi from Al-Yalayis, approximate travel times are provided:

Bus route F38 connects the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro station with Dubai Production City and Dubai Sports City. This circular route includes 24 stops and operates throughout the day.

Taxis are available at the Etihad Rail parking lot. Dubai Taxi Company has partnered with Etihad Rail to provide mobility services, and passengers can also use the Bolt application.

Etihad Rail tickets opened from Al Dhaid to Sharjah; fares start from 19 dirhams

Passengers can now purchase tickets for Etihad Rail journeys departing from the Al Dhaid station in Sharjah. Fares start from just 19 dirhams, and a direct train can take passengers to Fujairah in 25 minutes.

The station has been added to the booking system for routes starting on September 30, providing residents of the central area of Sharjah with direct rail connections to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.

According to data obtained by Khaleej Times on Tuesday, there are two daily services in each direction between Al Dhaid and Fujairah, as well as two services in each direction between Al Dhaid and Abu Dhabi.

These new options come as Etihad Rail prepares for the launch of passenger services from Al Yalais station in Dubai, located in Jumeirah Golf Estates, also scheduled for September 30, offering direct links to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.

Al Dhaid to Fujairah Route

The route from Al Dhaid to Fujairah offers services: from 9:41 to 10:06 AM (Comfort from 19 dirhams, Premium from 49 dirhams) and from 7:51 PM to 8:16 PM (Comfort from 24 dirhams, Premium from 79 dirhams).

Returning, from Fujairah to Al Dhaid, services are available: from 6:05 to 6:30 AM (Comfort from 19 dirhams, Premium from 49 dirhams) and from 5:17 PM to 5:42 PM (Comfort from 19 dirhams, Premium from 79 dirhams). Passengers traveling between these cities can complete the journey in just 25 minutes.

Al Dhaid to Abu Dhabi Route

The connection between Al Dhaid and Abu Dhabi takes one hour and 24 minutes. The following services are available: from 6:32 to 7:56 AM (Comfort from 69 dirhams, Premium from 149 dirhams) and from 5:44 PM to 7:08 PM (Comfort from 59 dirhams, Premium from 179 dirhams).

In the return direction, from Abu Dhabi to Al Dhaid, services run: from 8:15 to 9:39 AM (Comfort from 59 dirhams, Premium from 179 dirhams) and from 6:25 PM to 7:49 PM (Comfort from 69 dirhams, Premium from 179 dirhams).

Currently, the Etihad Rail booking platform does not display available trains between Al Dhaid and Dubai for September 30.

Etihad Rail states that the station serves communities in the central region of Sharjah and provides new rail connectivity between Al Dhaid and other destinations in the UAE. The station is located in Murghabat, Sharjah, and operates from 5 AM to 11 PM, Monday through Sunday.

The station features a prayer room, waiting area, restrooms, first aid room, ticket vending machine, as well as information and support services, and dedicated boarding and disembarking zones. Passengers can also use Uber and Sharjah Taxi services for arrival or departure from the station. An Etihad Rail bus stop is located nearby, approximately 50 meters away. Three bus routes serve this station: ER1 to Al Madam bus station, ER2 to Al Sajaa bus station, and ER3 to Jubail bus station.

Furthermore, the station offers car rental services and has 26 parking spaces, including 19 for regular vehicles and seven for electric vehicles. The booking platform currently lists half-day and full-day parking options at a cost of 0 dirhams, although passengers are advised to check for availability when purchasing train tickets.

Etihad Rail Network Updates: Dubai Station Opening, Metro and Abu Dhabi Airport Connectivity

With the upcoming opening of the Etihad Rail station in Dubai in a few weeks, numerous updates have emerged regarding the country's national railway network. The long-awaited station, located in Al Yaylais, will connect the emirate with stations in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, which began operating earlier this year.

Five key changes concerning the development of rail transport have been revealed. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai confirmed the possibility of a second Etihad Rail station in the emirate, adding to the already confirmed 11 stations. Although the location of this potential station has not yet been announced, the Dubai railway network map for 2032, published in April, indicates its placement in Meydan. This station will be integrated with the future Dubai Gold Line Metro, which is planned for completion in 2032.

Additional details were presented this week about the planned high-speed train between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. According to RTA data, this high-speed service will have two stations in Dubai: one at Al Maktoum International Airport and another at Al Jaddafah. While exact launch dates are not available, it will reduce travel time from Dubai to Abu Dhabi to 30 minutes. Whereas regular Etihad Rail trains operate at a speed of 200 km/h, the high-speed service will run at 350 km/h.

Dubai is working to ensure seamless connectivity between Etihad Rail and metro stations. At a press briefing, Mattar Al Tayyar, Director-General and Chairman of the RTA Executive Council, explained how the agency is collaborating with Etihad Rail to simplify passenger movement. A special pedestrian bridge is being constructed that will directly connect the Etihad Rail station to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro station on the Red Line, ensuring smooth transfers.

On Wednesday, Dubai approved a new 80-kilometer Fourth Corridor, which will run from Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah. This highway will be connected to Etihad Rail and is expected to reduce travel time by up to 60%, serving over 3.1 million people.

The railway network has entered into an agreement with Etihad Airways to integrate services. Both entities will study the feasibility of dedicated shuttle services between Mohammed Bin Zayed Passenger Station and Zayed International Airport. This will facilitate convenient transfers for passengers between the airport and Etihad Rail. The Memorandum of Understanding signed during the Arabian Travel Market also covers integrated booking options for air and rail tickets.

The Dubai station is scheduled to open on September 30, alongside the Al Daid station in Sharjah. The journey between Abu Dhabi and Dubai will take approximately 57 minutes, reducing travel time by 40%. Passengers will be able to use their existing Nol cards to pay for travel across the entire rail network following the agreement signed between RTA and Etihad Rail in February 2024.
