Once belongings are inside, cleaning becomes difficult because access to all corners is not always easy. Therefore, it is much better to clean certain areas before the move even begins. - Kitchen Cabinets: Before placing your belongings, you must thoroughly clean all kitchen drawers, shelves, and cabinets. Dust, grease, and remnants of old food can accumulate in them. First, remove dirt with a dry cloth, and then wipe and dry the surface with a mild cleaning agent.
- Dust on Fans and Lights: In addition to the floor, you should clean fan blades, fluorescent lamps, and lighting fixtures. Dust settled on the fan can spread throughout the room when it is turned on; for this, it is recommended to use microfiber.
- Bathroom Cleaning: Before moving in, you must clean the toilet, sink, faucets, shower cabin, tiles, and floor. You should also remove hair and dirt accumulated around the drain. If white spots appear on taps or shower elements, they must also be cleaned.
- Cleaning Window and Door Corners: Dust often accumulates around window sills, grilles, door frames, and in lower corners. Cleaning these areas before your belongings arrive is significantly easier.
- Checking Closets and Storage Areas: Before putting things into existing wardrobes, lofts, or storage areas in the house, they must be cleaned. Remove all trash, wipe the surfaces thoroughly, and ensure they are completely dry before placing items inside.
- Polishing the Floor Before Items Arrive: Cleaning the floor in an empty space is easier. It is especially important to clean in advance the areas where you plan to place the sofa, bed, refrigerator, and cabinets, as it will be difficult to reach these spots after heavy furniture is installed.
Organizing Cleaning Supplies
On moving day, gather a broom, mop, bucket, brushes, gloves, microfiber cloths, and cleaning agents in a separate bag. This will help avoid wasting time looking for the necessary items.
It is important to remember that preliminary cleaning allows easy access to those corners that might later be hidden by furniture. Therefore, you need to set aside several hours on moving day specifically for cleaning.
