Amazon may be close to launching its 12th generation of the standard Kindle. Marketing images released by the German portal WinFuture suggest that the e-book reader will receive design updates, such as rounded corners on the screen and a relocation of the power button.
Currently, technical details such as price, storage capacity, battery life, or screen resolution have not been revealed, making certain specifications and possible modifications to the final product uncertain.
One of the most notable changes would be the alteration in the location of the power button; in current basic models, it is located at the bottom of the device, but in the images of the supposed new version, it is seen on the upper right side.
The screen may also feature slightly curved corners and variations in panel depth compared to the bezel, which could indicate the existence of multiple variants of the device. WinFuture reports that the Kindle should maintain an approximately 6-inch front-lit screen, although it acknowledges the lack of sufficient data to confirm changes in brightness, resolution, or panel technology.
The basic Kindle sold today was renewed in 2024, but Amazon still officially classifies it as an 11th generation model. In the same year, the company also updated other readers in the line, such as the Paperwhite and the first Colorsoft.
Additionally, Amazon would be developing a Kindle Kids version based on this same device, differentiated by the inclusion of a case and specific warranty and service terms aimed at children.
The images also show more finishing alternatives; besides black, the new Kindle appears in green, light blue, and purple.
Amazon has not yet made an official announcement of the device nor specified its arrival date in stores. There is no information available regarding the price or a possible launch in Brazil.
In recent years, the company's range of readers has expanded. In 2025, for example, the Kindle Colorsoft arrived in Brazil with a 7-inch color screen, keeping the basic Kindle as the simplest option in the family.
