As part of the project to produce polylactic acid (PLA) from sugar grains, the launch of plastic production is being prepared. Specifically, foreign technology is being used at Kumbhi Sugar Mill in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, state, to create PLA.
The giant reactor, ordered from Belgium for this project, traveled for about five months and arrived in Varanasi. The massive trailer with the reactor arrived in Kashi on Monday evening and reached the Lanka Toll Plaza. An alternative route was organized past the Dafi toll plaza.
However, this alternative route turned out to be a dirt road in the morning, and the trailer got stuck in it. Technical teams, including two trailers and a crane, are working on extracting the vehicle on site. Work is currently underway to lay an iron sheet behind the trailer to prepare it for driving through the mud.
Locals note that this 'Bahubali trailer' has been here since last night, and they have never seen such large transport. Thousands of people gather at the arrival site, taking selfies and recording videos to capture the moment. An NHAI official reported that all visible preparations are carried out by the transport group itself, which includes two more trailers, a hydraulic machine, and two trucks, and they are paying for the passage through the toll plazas themselves.
This reactor left Belgium in April. After that, it followed a sea and land route through Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar, reaching Uttar Pradesh. The transportation was done using a special multi-axle trailer, and the total expenses for the entire process exceeded 10 million rupees.
A feature of the proposed project at Kumbhi Sugar Mill is that polylactic acid (PLA) will be produced from sugar grains. PLA can be used as an alternative to plastic and is known as a biodegradable material. This technology is based on foreign developments, and this initiative is considered an important step forward in the country.
The entire project plans to build a factory worth about 300 billion rupees, and the installation work will be carried out by foreign specialists.
After the delivery of this huge reactor to the site, the installation process will begin. According to officials, the reactor installation will take approximately one month. The government of Uttar Pradesh is also participating in the realization of the entire project, and the progress of the work is monitored daily.
Other difficulties arose during the transportation of the massive reactor in Varanasi. To ensure safe passage, approximately six six-foot bridges need to be dismantled. Only after this can the giant trailer move to its next destination. This project to create plastic from sugar has attracted public attention regarding technology, logistics, and industrial investment.
