The Wallet in Telegram service has announced a rebranding and will now operate under the name Walt. This name change reflects the product's evolution from a simple cryptocurrency wallet to a universal platform that provides trading tools, yield-bearing products, and support for multi-chain assets.
The rebranding is taking place ahead of the planned launch of Telegram's built-in non-custodial wallet, named Gram. Developers emphasized that these two products will serve different functions.
Gram will be positioned as an entry point for a broad audience, allowing users to purchase the ecosystem's main token, make transfers, and conduct payments within Telegram services. Meanwhile, Walt is aimed at more experienced users.
Currently, Walt supports the storage and exchange of over 300 assets across four blockchains. The platform allows trading of over 200 cryptocurrencies, tokenized stocks, ETFs, and metals as real-world assets (RWA), and also offers yield-bearing products for stablecoins and a range of other assets.
Furthermore, the platform provides the ability to trade perpetual futures on over 70 instruments, including oil and metals. In the near future, the company plans to launch crypto cards for daily transactions and an AI assistant for market analysis and portfolio management.
Andrey Rogozov, founder and CEO of The Open Platform (TOP) and Walt, noted: 'We started as a simple wallet for buying Toncoin and Bitcoin, and in four years we have turned into a full-fledged crypto platform.'
