Maruti Suzuki is actively working on releasing a new electric model. Although the company does not plan to create an extensive portfolio of electric vehicles, similar to Tata Motors or Mahindra & Mahindra, the next project on its list is an electric MPV.
Following the launch of the E-Vitara, the company began developing this new vehicle. According to reports, this car has the internal codename YMC and is set to compete with the Kia Carens Clarivs Electric. Various images of this future electric car have been published.
The car's design largely resembles the E-Vitara, including the hood, A-pillars, side mirrors, wheel arches, and 18-inch aerodynamic wheels. The rear of the car will look similar to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, especially due to the L-shaped taillights. Thus, although it is an MPV, its appearance will resemble an SUV, which may help the company attract more consumers.
The YMC's interior will also draw inspiration from the E-Vitara, including the dashboard, center console, door panels, and switches. By reusing components, the company can offer an attractive price for the vehicle. This model may come in two configurations: 6-seater and 7-seater, and it may be equipped with ventilated front seats.
Additionally, the car may feature 10-position adjustable power seats, a 10.25-inch multimedia system, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless phone charging. Information regarding a sunroof is currently unavailable. Safety will be ensured by features such as cruise control, 7 airbags, and a 360-degree camera.
The Maruti Suzuki YMC will be available in two variants. The base version may be equipped with a 142 hp engine and 193 Nm of torque, powered by a 49 kWh LFP battery, with a claimed range of 415 kilometers. In the top trim, the engine will produce 172 hp and 193 Nm of torque, operating with a 61 kWh battery, providing a claimed range of 515 kilometers.
