Ashish Kumar Singh, a 29-year-old resident of the state of Uttar Pradesh, dreamed of obtaining a PhD in Political Science, but his family's financial situation did not allow him to afford such expensive education. At one point, he felt that his dream might remain unfulfilled.
When it seemed that the dream was unattainable, he received help from the National Fellowship for Scheduled Castes (NFSC) from the central government. Ashish Singh receives financial support under this program for students from scheduled castes.
Since April 2024, Ashish Singh has been receiving financial assistance under the NFSC program. Previously, he was entirely dependent on his family. Financial difficulties made it difficult for him to purchase necessary textbooks, access online research content, and other academic resources.
Under this program, he is provided with a scholarship of 44,400 rupees per month. Additionally, he receives a House Rent Allowance (HRA) and a one-time grant. This support allows him not only to acquire materials necessary for his studies but also to cover his daily needs.
Currently, Ashish plans to complete his education and apply for an assistant professor position in a government institution. Furthermore, he is interested in taking competitive exams such as UPSC.
It is worth noting that NFSC is an initiative of the central government designed to provide financial assistance to students from the scheduled caste category while pursuing a PhD. This scholarship is provided for conducting research in disciplines such as sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
