Koto's new Niwa flatpack line marks an advancement in its commitment to conscious and sustainable modular design. This concept originated from the intention of developing environments that are adaptable and maintain a connection with nature, even when located in remote areas.
Niwa combines the precision of craftsmanship with principles of sustainability and ease of assembly. The inspirations for this project came from both Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics, resulting in cabins described as sculptures due to their simplicity, functioning as serene retreats and not just basic structures.
The emergence of this idea was motivated by the increasing demand for a characteristic Koto style in hard-to-reach locations. This presented an opportunity for the company to reformulate its modular architecture, prioritizing efficient transport, agility, and flexibility, without ever compromising the intrinsic quality of the project.
As a result, the cabin is supplied in a panelized format, which significantly facilitates both the transport and assembly processes, making high-standard prefabrication more accessible to the public.
