According to an umbrella review that combined 16 systematic reviews and meta-analyses, insomnia is associated with a higher risk of developing a stroke. This risk increases by 26 percent.
Furthermore, it was found that having insomnia increases the probability of hospitalization for any reason by 28 percent. Data on the link between insomnia and fatal incidents and injuries during commutes were also noted in the publication Sleep Medicine Reviews.
