The Chery QQ model, known in Brazil as one of the first affordable Chinese cars sold, will return to the Brazilian market in 2027, but under a new identity: as an Omoda electric hatchback. The launch is scheduled for January 2027.
The information was obtained by journalist João Anacleto from the channel A Roda. He points out that this new model will be the Chinese group's main strategy to compete with the BYD Dolphin. Furthermore, the new QQ has already been seen in uncamouflaged tests in Brazil by journalist Renato Maia from the channel Falando de Carro.
Although it retains the name, the vehicle has no visual or technical similarities to the old subcompact. In China, where it was introduced in March as the QQ3, it is marketed by Chery. Globally, however, it is part of the Omoda portfolio, positioned below the Omoda E5 SUV, which is already available in Brazil.
The brand change aims to help the model detach from the previous image of the QQ and attract a new audience. Due to its price positioning, its main competitors include the BYD Dolphin, Geely EX2, MG4 Urban, and GAC Aion UT.
Structurally, the hatchback is built on the T12 platform and has dimensions of 4.20 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width, and 1.57 meters in height, making it 6 cm longer than the Geely EX2. Its wheelbase of 2.70 meters is identical to that of the Toyota Corolla. The design incorporates smooth curves, semi-recessed door handles, and aerodynamics-focused details.
Internally, the QQ offers a minimalist cabin, equipped with a 15.6-inch central screen, a digital instrument panel, and customizable ambient lighting. The mechanical system features a rear motor producing 122 hp, a multi-link rear suspension, and a 42.7 kWh LFP battery.
In China, the declared range according to the CLTC cycle, considered optimistic, reaches 420 km. In Brazil, the expectation is that this range will be between 280 km and 300 km, following Inmetro standards. The turning radius of 5.2 meters facilitates maneuvering in narrow streets and garages. The body uses 82% high-strength steel and 16% hot-formed steel in columns and impact areas.
With the launch expected in January 2027, Omoda should prioritize expanding its dealership network before focusing on sales volume. Omoda & Jaecoo, which is Chery's international arm operating in the country since April 2025, reached 100 stores in June and projects finishing the year with 150 units.
In the Chinese market, the QQ3 costs between R$ 45.5 thousand and R$ 60.9 thousand (equivalent to 58,900 to 78,900 yuan). In Brazil, considering its technical specifications and dimensions, the price is estimated to be in the R$ 150 thousand range, aligning with the BYD Dolphin segment, according to a survey by Quatro Rodas magazine.
