Saida Mirziyoyeva announced that in 2031, Uzbekistan will be the host country for the XVI UN Congress on the Prevention of Crime and Criminal Justice. This initiative received support from participants present at the previous event.
According to information released by the Presidential Administration, Uzbekistan will hold this Congress in 2031. Mirziyoyeva emphasized that following the XV Congress in Abu Dhabi, participants supported the proposal to organize the next summit on Uzbek territory, which was reflected in the final declaration.
Mirziyoyeva stated on her Telegram channel that a five-year preparation period will precede this event, and in 2031, the country will host delegates from around the world.
According to UN data, the XV Congress is taking place in Abu Dhabi from September 26 to October 1. It involves representatives from over 5100 countries, including more than 40 justice ministers and other high-ranking officials from 119 states.
The Congress discusses critically important issues such as combating transnational crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, corruption, environmental offenses, child protection, and strengthening the rule of law.
The Abu Dhabi Declaration was adopted at the summit based on consensus. This document aims to strengthen international cooperation in response to new threats, ranging from cybercrime and fraud to the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence for criminal purposes.
During the Congress, Saida Mirziyoyeva met with Monica Juma, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Monica Juma has led this body since May 2026.
During this meeting, representatives from Uzbekistan and the UN Office discussed their current cooperation and jointly implemented projects.
