In response to rising air pollution levels in Delhi during the winter period, the Delhi government has adopted several significant measures. A directive has been issued banning construction work that generates dust, as well as external civilian construction activities from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
According to the Delhi government resolution, a complete ban on all construction and demolition work will be in effect from December 10, 2026, to January 20, 2027.
Furthermore, to reduce the use of private transport, a decision was made to double the existing parking fee at authorized parking lots. This rule will take effect on November 1, 2026, and remain in force until February 28, 2027, with the exception of parking lots managed and operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Changes have been made to office working hours. From November 1 to February 28, offices under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will operate from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, while offices managed by the Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD) will open from 10 AM to 6:30 PM.
Additionally, government and private offices have been instructed to ensure that 50 percent of staff work remotely (work from home), and the remaining 50 percent continue to work in the office. This arrangement will be valid from November 1 to February 28.
