A new startup has launched in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that allows residents to find out the value of their jewelry without visiting stores. The service SellYourGold.ae offers free at-home gold appraisals across the country, requiring no minimum quantity and imposing no obligation to sell.
According to the company, residents who accept the offer can receive payment in cash or bank transfer during the visit. Co-founders Rishi Vaya and Jash Vaya explained that the idea for the service arose from their family's experience in the UAE jewelry industry and a desire to simplify the process of selling gold.
They told Khaleej Times that SellYourGold.ae was created based on a simple concept—to provide a transparent and professional service for buying gold directly in people's homes, allowing them to sell on their own terms and in a comfortable environment.
The company has support from Al Fujairah Jewellers LLC, which, according to business sources, has been operating in the UAE jewelry sector since 1978.
How does the at-home appraisal work?
Clients contact the company via website or WhatsApp, after which they can receive a preliminary price quote even before scheduling a visit. The final price is determined only after the jewelry item has been weighed and tested in person.
During the visit, the buyer brings scales and a portable gold testing device, and the appraisal is conducted in the client's presence. The company asserts that its equipment is certified and regularly inspected.
The co-founders emphasized that clients see all readings and calculations in real time. If the client agrees with the final offer, payment is made immediately—either in cash or by bank transfer. Most visits take less than thirty minutes.
The service accepts various items, including old jewelry, chains, and gold coins; clients can appraise one item or bring a large collection.
How is the offer calculated?
The co-founders clarified that the starting point for the appraisal is the current market price of gold. Each item is individually weighed and tested to determine its karat purity before an offer is calculated.
Furthermore, the company applies a purchase discount, which, according to the founders, is explained before the client agrees to sell. The size of this discount was not disclosed by the co-founders.
This means that the initial appraisal is not a guaranteed amount, as the final sum depends on the appraisal results and the application of the company's discount.
If the client decides not to sell, the co-founders assured them that they can ask questions, take time to consider the offer, or decline the deal. They added that their buyers are fully trained specialists with many years of experience in the gold industry who explain the appraisal in detail, answer questions, and never rush the process.
An Emirates ID is required to complete the transaction, and the company issues an official invoice for every sale.
Opening a store in Dubai is planned
In addition to on-site appraisals, SellYourGold.ae plans to open its first physical store in Dubai, with a long-term goal of creating a network across the UAE. The co-founders did not specify the location or opening date.
They noted that a physical presence is important because it builds trust, deepens relationships, and signals the company's long-term intentions to clients. In the first year, the founders' priority is building customer trust and establishing a solid foundation for the business, aiming to create something that lasts a hundred years.
